Courtney Wilson explore landscape in layers; both the natural and experiential environment.
Courtney’s Lens paintings invite the viewer to see Landscape through a lens- a lens that is blurred through droplets of rain, or completely distilled. What can you see through this lens?
The lens itself is a reflection on the moments we hyper focus on, not seeing what’s beyond. Landscape is explored through identity – it is revealed to use when we let go. What are we focusing on?
Courtney was able to completely connect in a respective series described below:
Lens01 was Courtney’s first painting of the series and is a reflection of the outside world. As her work continued, there became a shift to self reflection. Lens 02 considers both the outside and inside world as it starts to blend. Lens 03-06 are the artist’s fully internal experiences, externalized.
